2010 Awards
Druid Hills Golf Club again hosted the annual awards banquet for those junior golfers being recognized for outstanding achievements on and off the golf course during the 2010 season. Families, friends and members of the golf community came together to celebrate the tremendous dedication and accomplishments of these young people on the first Friday in October.

Mariah Stackhouse, AJG Alumnae, 2007 Player of the Year and standout amateur golfer, highlighted the evening as guest speaker and addressed a crowd of more than 185 attendees. While just 16 years of age, her poise, appreciation for the game and well-rounded perspective allowed her to pass along some great advice for the generation following behind in her footsteps. Her advice revolved around working hard, setting goals, accepting the rewards of your successes with the bitterness of your defeats and making sure to allow yourself time away from the golf course to socialize and relax.
John Yi (Marietta) and Kayla Jones (Alpharetta) were both recognized for their outstanding seasons. Jones claimed the title of Overall Girls’ Grand Champion as well as Player of the Year honors. Yi claimed the same for his efforts, winning the Overall Boys’ Grand Championship, Player of the Year honors and additionally the Aroha “Roh” Wezner Scoring Trophy for the lowest scoring average during the 2010 Summer Series.
Keeping with the tradition of the evening, juniors were recognized for their success in the following categories: All-AJG Teams, comprised of the top-10 juniors in the Open and the top-five juniors in the Club divisions; All-AJG Academic Teams, recognizing high school boys and girls who have excelled in the classroom during the previous school year with a 3.5 or higher grade point average; and Players of the Year for, boys and girls in the Open divisions, who completed the year at the top of the points list.
The evening concluded with many special awards. Spencer Ralston (Gainesville) was awarded the MAADA Award for achieving the highest points total during the Summer Series, 120 points, a perfect season. Jonathan Mason received the AJG Sportsmanship Award for his display of character and commitment to upholding the spirit of the game during the summer. The 2010 Junior Golf Ambassador Award, presented annual to someone who has gone above and beyond to open doors for junior golfers in the area, was awarded to former Executive Director, Jeff Holt. Holt’s commitment to the game and AJG has positioned the Association to continue offering affordable junior golf programs for years to come.
